The City of New Haven has around 50 volunteers who serve and assist on 10 Boards and Commissions. The purpose of the boards and commissions is to advise and help to make decisions on various projects, finances, and ordinances throughout the City. New Haven's boards and commissions are open for applications from interested parties ready to serve their community.
All applicants apply, interview and are selected for appointment either through the City Council, Mayor, or members of the current boards or commissions. Learn more and apply on the Volunteer page or email the Mayor's office or call 260.748.7070.

High school students, can make their voice heard and impact their community by joining the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC).
Since 2002, MYAC has empowered young people to actively engage in community planning, collaborate with local officials, and address youth-related issues. This non-profit organization offers a unique blend of interaction with government officials and community service projects, fostering positive youth development.
As part of a nationwide initiative, MYAC members advise the Mayor and collaborate with City Council, contributing to the betterment of our community. Students are encouraged to put in their application to be part of shaping a brighter future for their community.
Mission
The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council will serve as a dedicated platform, amplifying the voices of young adults in our community. MYAC offers a vital opportunity to address direct concerns and issues, providing impactful solutions to local government officials through active participation and community involvement.
