New Arrangements for City of New Haven Swearing-In Ceremony
New Haven, IN (December 29, 2023) - In a conscientious decision prioritizing the health and well-being of our community, Mayor McMichael has regrettably chosen not to participate in the public gathering after testing positive for COVID-19 on December 28th. Despite experiencing only mild "cold-like" symptoms and no fever, he recognizes the importance of taking precautions to prevent the potential spread of illness.
In lieu of the Mayor's physical presence, we are honored to welcome Secretary of State Diego Morales to lead our community in this significant ceremony. Secretary Morales will administer the oath privately to the Mayor and Clerk-Treasurer. A public swearing-in of all other elected officials will continue as planned at the New Haven Community Center. Mayor McMichael extends his heartfelt gratitude to Secretary Morales for his dedication, friendship, and support.
Mayor McMichael has conveyed, "New Haven is a resilient community, and our best days are ahead of us. We will continue to support one another and build upon the historic growth our City has experienced."
As we come together to celebrate this momentous occasion, please remember to prioritize your safety. Mayor McMichael encourages anyone experiencing symptoms to take an at-home test and emphasizes the collective responsibility to safeguard public health. The City of New Haven sends warm wishes for a Happy New Year.
