East Central Fire & EMS

About Us

As the name indicates, the East Central Fire and EMS Department was consolidated into a protection territory that includes the city of New Haven, City of Woodburn, Adams Township, and surrounding townships. By joining together in collaboration, a greater number of people are able to be served and resources go much further.

The Fire Department is a combination type Fire and Emergency Medical services department that includes over 170 full and part time employees and volunteers. There are also over three fire stations with more than 22 fire and emergency pieces of equipment. In 2003 the department became an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedic Service allowing for a greater level of service.

The Fire Department currently maintains an ISO Insurance Rating of Class 3. All firefighters are trained based on National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards, and all are currently certified by the State of Indiana. The Fire Department is certified as a non-transport EMS provider by the State EMS Commission in which a majority of the department's fire trucks carry defibrillators.
