Every year, a New Haven non-profit is honored as the Mayor's Choice in which all proceeds from the City's events will be given to the organization. In 2020 for the inaugural designation, the New Haven Food Bank was chosen as the first recipient. This designation has only grown and through all of the world changes, our community has continued to come together to work hard.
New Haven's non-profits are organizations who give without seeking glamour or recognition. The people who run these organizations and those who help, freely give their time, treasures, and talent to our community. They make our community better and stronger. With the award, the Mayor not only honors the organization's dedication to New Haven, but also challenges the community to to find a way to make New Haven better.

They spearheaded the construction of the new band shell and concessions stand in our oldest park, Schnelker Park. They also helped to fund the birthday of Schnelker Park's 100th Anniversary. They also helped to start and lead our community's first ever community-wide art project, "Bulldogs". in which over 20 life-sized bulldogs with different murals of the town's history were installed throughout the city.
