East Central Fire Territory

We are a combination type Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department that includes twenty-one career staff and 80 part-time and volunteer staff. We have three fire stations with a total of 22 pieces of equipment.

Consolidation

As our name indicates, our department was consolidated from two departments in 1990, one being the City of New Haven with two fire stations, and the other being Adams Township also with two fire stations. Two stations were closed and one central station was built. This consolidation allowed us the opportunity to improve our services to the community. In 2003 with the support of the local community and the City we took a huge step in service and became and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedic Service.

Emergency Medical Services

The EMS Services we provide are ALS Transport Ambulance Service, with 3 ambulances, 1 ALS non-transport vehicle and 1 ALS non-transport Engine that are centrally located at our central fire station. All of the Career Staff are cross-trained in Fire and EMS and are considered dual-role. The 21 member career staff has 10 personnel that are certified to the ALS level of Paramedic. Our responses for EMS calls for service have exceeded 1,800 consistently over the last few years.
